Sace and Flex4Future: a New Program

Sun 25 Feb 2024

“We are pleased to embrace a new work organization model based on flexibility, which will allow the group to enhance its resilience and ability to respond to change […] This is an important step in the cultural transformation we embarked on a year ago with the Insieme2025 industrial plan. Thanks to values such as mutual trust, transparency, and accountability, this model will increase our effectiveness while ensuring the well-being, sense of belonging, and a healthy work-life balance for all our colleagues.”

With these words, Sace’s CEO, Alessandra Ricci, introduced the Flex4Future program a few weeks ago—a new work organization model launched by the Italian insurance and financial group owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The project, founded on mutual trust and accountability, involves all employees and aims to revolutionize the way work is conducted within the company.

The Pillars of Flex4Future

But what are the key points of the program recently introduced by Sace? Let’s take a closer look.

Unlimited smart working: allows employees to work remotely for as long as they wish, freely choosing the location that best suits their needs.

Flexible hours: enable employees to decide their start and end times, as long as they align with work and team requirements.

Short work week: available on a voluntary basis, lets employees work four days a week instead of five, totaling 36 hours instead of 37, with the option to choose their day off based on their area's monthly schedule.

Autonomy and responsibility: grant employees accountability for their own work and the freedom to organize themselves as they see fit.

Subject of Study

As part of an evaluation of the results necessary to understand the validity of the program, the Smart Working Observatory of the School of Management at the Politecnico di Milano will monitor the effectiveness of the project and analyze the impacts of the path taken by Sace, both in terms of work productivity and employee well-being.
The collaboration between Sace and the Politecnico di Milano represents an important opportunity to:

Evaluate the impact of a flexible and innovative work model.

Disseminate best practices in smart working.

Contribute to the development of new work models.

The study by the Politecnico di Milano will provide valuable data and analysis for companies looking to adopt flexible work models. A concrete step forward, yet another, towards the professional future envisioned by NotOnlyDesk since its inception.
