The world of work, as we have repeatedly pointed out, has gone through an unprecedented transformation in recent years, accelerated by new technologies and the impacts of the global pandemic dated March 2020. In the context of the change it generates, the concept of "flexible work" has gradually established itself as one of the most relevant trends in the way we conceive workspaces. Flexible working, with its flexibility and adaptability, has at the same time redefined the traditional notion of office, allowing professionals to work in more dynamic environments adapted to their needs.
At the dawn of the new year it therefore seems correct to us to analyse what happened in the year just passed so as to get an idea of what the 2024 trend could be.
But let's go in order.
Smart working: where we are
According to a series of data collected by Stella - Workspace for 2023, we are allowed to make a series of observations on the state of smart between 2023 and 2024.
- The use of flexible spaces, from offices served to "managed", from coworking to shared meeting rooms, from lounge spaces to hotel-like receptions, is experiencing considerable growth.
- According to CBRE data, companies that make extensive use of these flexible spaces have recorded some growth, (from 19% in 2022 to 36% in 2023) and the data suggest that 50% can be exceeded in Next two years.
- Thanks to a constant evolution of the concept of flexibility (from a mere contractual issue to a broader concept that concerns the sharing of services and spaces), and although the majority of customers occupy up to 10 workstations, the fastest growing category is the one with more than 50 workstations.
- There are four key factors that are fuelling interest in these flexible spaces, namely cost reduction, agility, innovation and promotion of collaboration, as well as attracting talent. All elements to which NotOnlyDesk has repeatedly devoted attention and in-depth study.
Smart working: prospettive future
Given and considering the data reported in the previous paragraph, it is likely that smart working will continue to grow and evolve even in 2024, thanks to increasingly advanced technologies and increased awareness of organisations about the advantages offered by this flexible working model. Nothing, of course, detracts from the fact that new tools, platforms and public and private initiatives can contribute, even in the short term, to improving remote work collaboration, time management and communication between teams.
Without, of course, forgetting that any innovative solution will certainly have to take into account the well-being of workers, a condition - as often emphasised - necessary for any type of reasoning in flex optics.
It is also important to keep in mind that predictions about the future are influenced by various factors. That is why there can be no certainty about the transformations that await us, but only a good dose of trust corroborated by data and previous experiences.
Perspectives of NotOnlyDesk
Clearly for NotOnlyDesk, which since its inception has offered a subscription service that allows users to access a network of coworking spaces, the continuous growth of the smart model represents a fundamental element to continue to spread their ideas in Italy and beyond. With NotOnlyDesk, users can book desks, meeting rooms and other services at a variety of coworking spaces and take advantage of a whole host of benefits that we have often reported. These are the possibilities of greater corporate and individual productivity, better networking opportunities and, last but not least, reduced costs.
An even more flexible 2024 can only represent yet another opportunity for NOD to spread its model and its convictions. In the direction of an increasingly smart future
