NotOnlyDesk and Agenda 2030: the objectives

Fri 24 Nov 2023

Since the day of its birth, NotOnlyDesk has worked to give concreteness to its mission: to revolutionise the agile labour market both nationally and internationally. Along the path that separates us from the actual implementation of the project, however, we know that we necessarily have to confront ourselves with the Sustainable Development Objectives (SGS) defined by the United Nations and included in the so-called 2030 Agenda.

But what exactly is it about? And, above all, which of the OSS does NotOnlyDesk go and will impact on? Let's see it together.

The 2030 agenda and the 17 OSS

The Agenda 2030 for sustainable development is a global action program signed by 193 United Nations member countries in September 2015. The Agenda is based on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SSOs) that aim to create a better and more sustainable future for all.

The SSOs are interconnected and focus on five key areas:
  • People: ensure healthy living and promote the well-being of all, at all ages
  • Prosperity: promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all
  • Peace: promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, ensuring access to justice for all and building effective, responsible and inclusive institutions at all levels
  • Partnership: strengthening the means of implementation and renewing the global partnership for sustainable development
  • Planet: protecting the environment, managing natural resources and combatting climate change
    • To go further into detail Here are the 17 goals: Defeat poverty, Defeat hunger, Health and well-being, Quality education, Gender equality, Clean water and sanitation, Clean and affordable energy, Decent work and economic growth, Business, innovation and infrastructure, Reduce inequalities, Sustainable cities and communities, Responsible consumption and production, Fight against climate change, Life under water, Life on Earth, Peace, justice and solid institutions, Partnership for objectives.

Decent work and economic growth

The NotOnlyDesk project, as anticipated, must be confronted daily with the OSS set out in the Agenda. In particular on two of these: Decent work and economic growth and Sustainable cities and communities. Let's analyse the first of these in more detail (We will dedicate a next article to Sustainable Cities and Communities).

In fact, as the United Nations writes, it is necessary to "Promote development-oriented policies, which support productive activities, the creation of decent jobs, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and that encourage the formalisation and growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, also through access to financial services".

And how does NotOnlyDesk deal with item number 8 on the agenda? It's easy to say.

As announced since day 1, in fact, NotOnlyDesk aims to revolutionise the world of flexible work, creating a link between the growing demand for smart workers and the workspaces available for rent on the national territory. The goal is to offer each user the possibility of renting desks through the website or the mobile app.

NotOnlyDesk represents versatility, the future and is therefore the face of innovation, since it offers countless advantages not only to individuals, but also to companies and owners of coworking spaces or empty premises. In a professional context where remote work, often in mixed solutions, has become an everyday reality, NotOnlyDesk provides companies with insurance policies against accidents at work, lower business expenses, workstations that comply with regulations and easier management of resources.

Today NotOnlyDesk can count on 50 partner facilities spread throughout the national territory and in the main cities of Italy. Structures that, of course, allow the creation of professional environments and particularly dynamic communities. With a young and heterogeneous working group, our startup fully responds to United Nations policies aimed at promoting development, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation; and, although the road is still long, the path of NotOnlyDesk is already widely mapped out.
